Many scholars of comparative religion have noted a dichotomy of Ghost-Positive and Ghost-Negative cosmologies that exist in most traditions, with Chinese ‘triple-religion’ or popular religon being a particular example of a ‘Ghost-Positive’ worldview, where both ancestral spirits and wandering ghosts are met with a kind of religious respect rather than revilement.
